Director of Studies
Girls' Housemistress

DIRECTOR of STUDIES
Due to a restructuring of the Senior Leadership team, Belhaven Hill School is seeking to appoint a Director of Studies to oversee all aspects of the academic life of the school. The successful candidate would be expected to teach a reduced timetable (all subjects will be considered) and also to play a full part in the co-curricular life of the school. He / She will also be required to register with the General Teaching Council, Scotland (GTCS). The starting date for the post is September 2019.

This is an opportunity for a well-qualified, highly academic and driven person to continue the excellent work of the previous Director of Studies, which has been instrumental in further improving both the academic rigour and the academic results at the school.

Belhaven Hill School provides boys and girls aged 7-13 with the best possible prep. education.  Just 30 miles east of Edinburgh, the school is set in 25 acres of walled grounds and sits directly on the beautiful East Lothian coastline. Belhaven has an enviable scholarship record, winning 17 awards last year and 14 the year before. All pupils and staff also take part in a wide and varied range of co-curricular activities.

There are currently 124 pupils, of whom two-thirds are full boarders; the school operates as a boarding School first and foremost although there are 40 day pupils too, predominantly at the lower end of the school.  Two separate houses, one for the girls and one the boys, provide a warm and caring full-boarding environment, with boarders and staff enjoying an Exeat from Friday lunchtime until Sunday evening every other week.

Application forms (available on the school website) must be completed in full and sent - along with a short, hand-written letter to the Headmaster - to the school secretary, Mrs. Alex Farquhar, Belhaven Hill School, Belhaven Road, Dunbar, East Lothian EH42 1NN (secretary@belhavenhill.com)

GIRLS' HOUSEMISTRESS
Due to the promotion of the present incumbent to a Housemistress role at Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Belhaven Hill School is seeking to appoint a Housemistress to oversee all aspects of the running of the girls’ boarding house, which accommodates up to 45 full-boarding girls from ages 8-13. Whilst the successful candidate would be expected to teach a reduced timetable and register with the General Teaching Council, Scotland (GTCS), it is possible that - for the right candidate - this could be a purely pastoral and co-curricular role. The starting date for the post is September 2019.

This is an opportunity for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and motivated person to continue the outstanding work which has been instrumental in making Belhaven Hill the top boarding prep school in Scotland.
