Gardening is by far the most popular extra-curricular activities on offer at Belhaven.

Over half the children in the school help to care for a patch in the School's Walled Garden during the Summer Term.

Each year the children grow from seed a wide variety of flowers and vegetables in the School's greenhouse. When these are ready, they are planted out in plots cared for by groups of four to six pupils.

At the end of the Summer Term the gardens are judged by former Chairman of Governors Mrs Jenny Harper. Mrs Harper also awards a trophy to the Belhaven "Gardener of the Year".

Competition is fierce and bribery of judges with flowers, fruit and vegetables is commonplace!
