CHARITY WORK

a Belhaven Activity

18 children have chosen to take part in the charity work activity. They are all very enthusiastic and full of ideas about whom they would like to help and how they would like to do it.

When I initially asked the pupils who they wanted to help, there was quite a number of great charities mentioned, from Borders Children, Veteran charities, Sick Kids, Water Aid and Cancer Research to raising money to help the protection of sharks and river dolphins. As we thought that it might be better to give more money to a few, rather than very little to many, I asked the pupils to vote for the three charities they would really like to help. These are the three charities chosen:

Sick Kids Foundation, which has now changed its name to

     Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity

JUMBLE SALE   We held a jumble sale on Friday 2nd June during quiet reading. A big thank you to all the parents who have donated books and bric-à-brac. This was a huge success and thanks to it we have raised £178 for the three charities we are supporting.
